baked green tomatoes

fall is a wonderful time for baked green tomatoes.  instead of the fried version, these tomatoes are simply delicious and lower in calories and fat grams.

first, i slice the firm green tomatoes, and then coat them in heart smart Bisquick which is seasoned with black pepper and very little salt.

i spray the sheet pan with canola oil and then bake the tomatoes for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees.  it is important to turn the tomatoes during the baking time.

they are crisp and flavorful and better than any fried tomatoes i have tasted over time.

they can have added seasonings to taste and must be served warm to hot from the oven for the best result.
